The Minnesota Access Alliance seeks new members for its volunteer board. You may nominate yourself, a colleague, or friend for a board position between now and January 15. This is an unpaid, volunteer position.

We are a group of cultural administrators and representatives from the disability community. Our mission is to raise the bar on accessibility in the arts and culture sector. 

What is the role of the MNAA Board?

The MNAA board is a working board and programming body responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering MNAA’s public programs.
  • Guidingthe vision and strategic planning of the alliance.
  • Fostering connections with disability communities and cultural spaces.
  • Building MNAA participation.
  • Advocating for the advancement of universal access at cultural spaces

Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Attend at least 7 MNAA Steering Committee monthly meetings annually (meetings are typically held in the Twin Cities, a conference call option is available).
  • Attend at least 3 programs hosted by MNAA each year.
  • Participate in the committee work of this board as an active member of a working committee
  • Be willing to contribute to the development of content for distribution via the website, MNAA list-serv, and social media outlets, etc.
  • Be willing to serve a 3-year term.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Personal experience with disability. MNAA values the experiences of people who have disabilities; individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
  • Perspective from a type of organization or a population that is not currently on the board.
  • Professional or lived experience with accessibility at cultural institutions.
  • Interest in educating and advocating for universal access at cultural institutions.
